I have to admit that I knew I wanted to do something like this, but the pressure to make it live up to what I imagined is rough. I know, I know, it's just lunch. So, that's what it is in the end.. just lunch, but one that evolved into a fun tribute for Darwin Day after all. Enjoy, and feel free to link up your lunch creations, crafts, activities, or anything that might remotely be connected to today's events! Thanks for stopping by.
For the hubby's lunch, I could be a bit more direct with my Darwin Day lunch.. the trademark walking fish of course, as well as an evolving cherry tomato fish, and if you didn't get the reference with the Bugles, for shame. The ship that Darwin sailed on was the Beagle.. har har..
For hubby's lunch - Leftover spaghetti, cherry tomatoes, Swiss and cheddar cheese, red bell peppers, and Bugles.
For the kiddo, I had to take a bit of a different approach, and while I had hoped to find finch picks in my stash, I did not, so I ended up going with turtles. After all, Darwin's 'discovery' of the Galapagos Islands, and the study of the giant tortoises that roamed them, is in part what shaped evolutionary theory. And speaking of evolution, how about that tree? Get it.. evolutionary tree... Clever, yes?
Red bell peppers, grapes, cheddar cheese, Wheat Thins, cucumber, and pear yogurt with sprinkles. While not pictured, the top tier also had a chickpea and cucumber salad.
Now, it's your turn to add your own tribute to Darwin Day.. lunches, projects, whatever! Oh, and for some generally fabulous lunch creations, be sure and pop over to BentoLunch, who was kind enough to create this linky for me! Thank you, Shannon!
