If you've followed me for a bit, you know I have a series of letter lunches, although they come to the blog randomly and in no particular order. Today is the letter 'P'. I have to say that I certainly packed a lot of 'P' in these lunches. Wouldn't you say?
Peach, pear, peppers, turkey pepperoni, piggy pizza, and pea shoots.
'Pizza' penne pasta with peppers and Parmesan cheese, Provolone chunks, turkey pepperoni, gold and red plum slices, nut mix of peanuts, pecans, and pistachios to make a parfait with the pineapple Greek yogurt, with some PureAlmond and chocolate treat on the side. (That was quite the a mouthful of 'p')
This little panda was playing peek-a-boo behind the plum! Isn't he cute? And I thought I'd share a few of the letter 'p' worksheets, too.

A Day at the Beach
You'd think with all the lakes in Michigan, I'd make it to a beach more often, but then I remember that it's Michigan. For all I love about it, you can never really count on the weather. This past week, for instance, it has been quite cool. Come on, now, Mother Nature. We don't get that long of a summer, so could you please crank the heat up a bit? It is still July, after all! It does look like this week has some warmer weather in store, so I'll take it. Having said all that, I did finally get up to the beach at a friend's cabin recently. We had a lovely afternoon, and packed more than just sunblock for the trip!
Lunch for mom & dad - Whole Foods sesame tofu and spring rolls (mine with the peanut sauce and hubby's with soy sauce), Trader Joe's kettle cooked potato chips and carrots for me and Naturebox cranberry almond bites with celery sticks for the hubby.
For the kiddo - Naturebox cranberry almond bites, Goldfish crackers and cashews, cheddar/mozzarella cheese stick (a Clif Kids fruit rope is tucked underneath), red bell peppers, turkey pepperoni, and a side of watermelons chunks.
I only wish the summer days were longer. Don't we all?

Veggie Tales Lunch
Let me say that I thoroughly love and hate Veggie Tales all at the same time. I have my reasons. We'll leave it at that. Either way, they sing catchy tunes (sometimes ones that get lodged in my brain for weeks.. perhaps one of the reasons I loathe/love them) and send a good moral message, and kids love them. The fact that they are made of, well... vegetables just makes them look literally good enough to eat. So, why not eat them for lunch? Sure, yeah, the kid will have to bite Larry's head off and eat Bob's 'guts'. Eh, all in good fun (and nutrition), right? Right!
Grapes, Swiss cheese (Bob) and turkey pepperoni on whole wheat toast with mustard, Sweet 100s out of our garden, and a Persian cucumber (Larry) with candy eyes.
Some of my fellow bento blogging pals have also been bit by the VeggieTales bug, and are biting back! Be sure and check out these fun VeggieTales lunches they created.

Road Trip Snack Box
It's inevitable that my child gets dragged here and there, but sometimes 'there' is an all day affair. I had to travel downstate for a doctor's appointment, and the driving alone is three hours, so packing snacks is essential. We're saving both time and money this way. Besides, when I get downstate, I also spend a bit of both of those at Trader Joe's and Whole Foods (perhaps a favorite educational toystore too), so why waste it?
Cucumbers and carrots, apples and peanut butter, mini chocolate bar, mozzarella cheese cubes, Goldfish crackers, Clif Kid fruit rope, Naturebox cranberry almond bites, and dried mango with cashews.

Pure Michigan Lunch
Let me first say that I'm a Michigander through and through. I love the lakes and the forests, the sun and the snow (sometimes within days of each other), going up north and down state, spring rains to autumn colors, busy cities or open country, and everything in between. Fishing, biking, boating, hiking, cultural centers, zoos, museums, gardens, and so on, but most of all, for me, it's family and a lifetime of memories made and yet to come. That's my Michigan!
If you haven't visited Michigan, and would like to, one of the best places to start is at Pure Michigan, Michigan's official travel and tourism site. And, while you're here, let's do lunch!
Michigan turkey and provolone sandwich, a colorful 'forest' of mixed greens with chocolate biscuit 'morel' mushrooms, Michigan cherries, cucumber cars (automotive capital, you know), and blue Jello with a Provolone cheese Mackinac Bridge and fish.
