ReplyDeleteHello Sara. I don't mean to post here, but this is the only place I could find to respond. I saw you were talking about Quorn crumbles on another site and I had no idea what they were, so I looked them up and found this article... just thought I would share. What do you know of this stuff? Love finding new things, but this alarmed me a little. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/michael-f-jacobson/meet-quorn-this-fungus-ai_b_290379.html
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!!
HI Dawn. I know that a small percent of people have experiences GI issues from it, but just as with any food, some people do have sensitivities. It is mold, and people with allergies to some molds may want to avoid it. The product also has gluten and dairy proteins, so the reaction can be from that as well. From my understanding, it is a tiny fraction of people that have reaction to this mycoprotein vs. soy, wheat, nut, dairy, etc. So, eat in moderation and if you have a mold allergy, be cautious. We love it. And soy is LESS healthy for me with thyroid disease, so we try to vary our protein sources. Thanks for the article though.
ReplyDeleteVery cute. The cube it looks great for mini sandwich skewers. I linked it o my FB page. Thanks for hosting!
